For its fiftieth, jubilee performance Theater Stap presents a mixed grill of theatre, film, dance, the plastic arts and everything connected with that.

 

For a jubilee performance the company most often look for a performance that is typical. Theater Stap also looked back to the course of 35 years. Just to realise: there isn’t anything ‘typical’.

 

Stock-plays, experimental dance, big performances with famous companies, small pieces for a limited audience, shortfilms, own creations, guest-directors, it was all there. We saw a few constants though: focus on the authenticity of the actors, passion and craftsmanship.

For our jubilee performance, we squat a theatre and fill the evening with short performances, film, plastic arts and animation. Every act during this evening is made or performed by a mentally disabled person. In that way we continue to do what we have been best at for more than 30 years: bringing mentally disabled actors as close as possible to an audience.

‘Blade Racer’: a dance solo by Peter Janssens, concept and direction: Koen De Preter.

 

‘Downside Up’: a shortfilm by Peter Ghesquière, co-produced by Theater Stap.

 

‘Het Spektakel van de Halven en de Helen’ (the Show of the half witted and the Intact): a spectacle by Bart Van Gyseghem and nine Stap actors, a co-production with WIT.H vzw.

 

‘Theater Stap strijkkwartet brengt Street Hassle van Lou Reed’: a mix of performance and plastic art: concept and realisation: Eric Verboven.

 

According to circumstances and wishes of the organizors, the program can differ.
