The premiere of the play ‘Tango’ took place in March ’92.
On the one hand, a funeral with unexpected humorous plots is central to the play, on the other hand, the unattainable desires of the players on the stage are considered. The production is a national and international success. Cineaste Frans Buyens was so moved by the theatrical performance that he decided to make a film based on it. The original music was revised and played by the Gaggini string quartet.
They filmed on pellicle for 6 weeks in the theatre building but mainly in the studio; scenes from the performance and new scenes for the film. The film was shown several times on national television and won a number of prizes at various film festivals.
